Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about working with Small Business Consulting Suite.

About Our Consulting Services

What exactly does a small business consultant do?

A small business consultant provides objective expertise and strategic guidance to help your business identify challenges, seize opportunities, and implement solutions. We work alongside you to analyze your business, create actionable plans, and support execution — covering areas like strategy, marketing, operations, finance, and team development. Think of us as a trusted advisor who combines the experience of someone who’s seen hundreds of businesses with deep knowledge of what works at the small business level.

How is consulting different from coaching?

Business coaching focuses primarily on mindset, accountability, and personal development for the business owner. Consulting is more focused on solving specific business problems — we do a significant amount of the analytical and strategic work alongside you, delivering concrete recommendations, plans, and deliverables. Our engagements typically combine both: strategic consulting work with coaching-style support to help you lead your team through change effectively.

What industries do you work with?

We work with small businesses across a wide range of industries including retail, professional services, healthcare practices, restaurants and food service, real estate, construction, e-commerce, technology, health and wellness, education, and home services. Our consulting frameworks are designed to translate across industries — while we always account for sector-specific dynamics in our recommendations.

How long does a typical consulting engagement last?

Engagement length varies depending on your goals and the package you choose. Many clients see significant results within the first 90 days. Our retainer packages are month-to-month with no long-term commitment required. For specific project engagements (like a business audit or strategic plan), timelines typically range from 2 to 8 weeks depending on scope and complexity.

Getting Started

How do I know if my business is ready for consulting?

Your business is ready for consulting if you’re experiencing any of the following: you’re working harder but profits aren’t growing; you’re stuck at a revenue plateau; you’re overwhelmed by operations and can’t focus on growth; you’re about to make a major decision (hiring, expansion, new product) and want expert input; or your team lacks clear direction. You don’t need to be in crisis — many of our best engagements are with businesses that are doing well but want to accelerate and build smarter systems for growth.

What happens during the free strategy call?

The free 30-minute strategy call is a no-pressure conversation to understand your business, your biggest challenges, and your goals. We’ll ask about your current situation, what’s working, and where you’re feeling stuck. By the end of the call, you’ll have clarity on what’s holding you back and what we’d recommend as the right next steps. There’s no obligation to engage us — it’s genuinely useful whether you hire us or not.

Do you work with startups or only established businesses?

We work with both. Our Starter package is specifically designed for new business owners who need a strong foundation from day one. For startups, we focus on business model validation, initial go-to-market strategy, financial modeling, and avoiding the common early-stage mistakes that derail new businesses. For established businesses, we focus on growth, profitability, and operational scalability.

Pricing & Packages

How much does small business consulting cost?

Our monthly retainer packages start at $497/month for the Starter package, $997/month for the Growth package, and $2,497/month for Enterprise. We also offer project-based engagements and one-time business audits for businesses that prefer a defined scope. All packages are month-to-month with no long-term contract required. Visit our Packages page for full details.

Is there a long-term contract?

No. All of our monthly retainer packages are month-to-month with no long-term contract. We earn your continued business by delivering results, not by locking you in. You can cancel or pause your engagement at any time with 30 days’ notice.

Do you offer any guarantee?

Yes. We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee on your first consulting session. If you don’t find the session valuable, we’ll refund your investment in full. While we can’t guarantee specific business outcomes (results depend on implementation, market conditions, and many factors outside our control), we do guarantee the quality, professionalism, and relevance of the guidance we provide.

Can I upgrade or downgrade my package?

Absolutely. You can change your package at any time. Many clients start with the Starter package and upgrade to Growth once they’re seeing results and want more intensive support. We’ll always recommend the package that makes the most sense for your stage and goals — we’d rather you be on the right plan than a more expensive one that isn’t a fit.

How We Work

Do you work virtually or in person?

We work with clients nationwide, and the vast majority of our consulting is conducted virtually via video call. This allows us to serve businesses across the country without geographic limitations. Our Enterprise package includes optional on-site visits (up to 2 days per quarter) for clients who want in-person work sessions or team facilitation.

How do consulting sessions work?

Sessions are conducted via video call (Zoom or Google Meet). Before each session, you’ll receive a short prep questionnaire so we can focus the time on what matters most. Sessions are recorded and notes are shared afterward with action items and next steps clearly outlined. Between sessions, you’ll have access to your consultant via email or our client portal for questions and accountability.

How quickly will I see results?

Most clients experience meaningful clarity and directional progress within the first 30 days. Measurable business results (revenue growth, cost reduction, improved efficiency) typically begin to show within 60–90 days, depending on which areas we’re working on and how quickly recommendations are implemented. Strategy without execution doesn’t produce results — which is why we build accountability and implementation support into every engagement.

What information will you need from my business?

For our initial onboarding, we’ll ask you to complete a business intake questionnaire covering your revenue, key metrics, team structure, current challenges, and goals. For financial work, basic P&L and cash flow data is helpful. We keep all information confidential and can sign an NDA if preferred. The more openly you share your business situation, the more precisely we can help you.
